Safe And Fast Extrication, Inc. (hereinafter referred as SAFE) provides emergency responders with advanced life saving vehicle extrication knowledge and skills. If your agency is looking for quality vehicle extrication training, SAFE will provide you with an intense practical hands-on program that is second to none.  We promise that you'll walk away at the end of the practical training session with a wealth of up-to-date vehicle extrication techniques and procedures, saving those precious seconds during an extrication rescue…ultimately saving more lives.

SAFE has been developing, researching, and setting the standards for vehicle extrication for over twenty years. For the past six years, SAFE’s ongoing vehicle extrication research and development with biomechanic and injury researchers from the Medical College of Wisconsin Neuroscience Research Laboratory, allows us to provide emergency rescue personnel with the most effective and efficient extrication methods.

SAFE is the only organization that is quantifying the effectiveness of this training through the Medical College of Wisconsin Neuroscience Research Lab. It is the only such lab in the United States in an academic medical setting. This collaborative educational research is to identify, test and reexamine conventional extrication methods, as well as develop countermeasure state-of-the-art extrication techniques that would increase the safety and efficiency of vehicle rescues.

SAFE offers a number of course options, including:  Intermediate Vehicle Extrication, Advanced Vehicle Extrication Level I, Advanced Vehicle Extrication Level II, Train-the-Trainer (TET) and specialty extrication (i.e. school bus, motor coach, para-transit, etc.).

8-hour Intermediate Vehicle Extrication :
This intense hands-on program is targeted to reduce confusion at the emergency crash scene involving entrapped victims. The program focuses on heavy hydraulics, pneumatic and hand tool extrication techniques, including but not limited to, extrication team approach implementing time saving strategic and tactical operations. This course is designed to bring emergency responders together to work on an equal skill level using a systematic progression of difficult team problem solving scenarios. This hands-on program will be demanding and requires attendees' skill levels to go beyond the basics.
No prerequisite required at this level of training.

Advanced Vehicle Extrication Level I:
This hands-on program is designed for emergency responders who are adept in their vehicle extrication skills. Cognitive and performance skills go beyond the intermediate skill levels. Attendees will perform challenging team problem solving extrication scenarios, included but not limited to, vehicle rollover, on their sides (more and less than half way), frontal offset, over and under rides. This program also includes proper incident command strategic prioritizing and tactical implementation to save time during a vehicle rescue. The training will consist of extreme vehicle extrication scenarios based on situations that will challenge the extrication team to their maximum limits.  This learning environment aims to teach attendees how to save time in the “golden hour”.
No prerequisite required at this level of training.

Advanced Vehicle Extrication Level II:
Designed for emergency responders who are proficient in Advanced Vehicle Extrication Level I. This integrated training allows for extrication teams to gain experience in vehicle extrication at the highest degree of complexity.  Advanced Level II challenges the incident commander and team to perform smartly and efficiently in extreme collision circumstances.  The applied learning sessions are complicated, often with vehicles and victims in unusual positions and with multifaceted problems to be solved by the team during a extrication. Incident Commander and team members will learn to perform simultaneous extrications requiring a high level of  knowledge and skills.  Armed with this education, teams will learn to flawlessly execute high-level extrication techniques, all while working against time- which can make the difference between life and death.
Prerequisite: Advanced Vehicle Extrication Level I

Train-the-Trainer (TET) Program:
The purpose of this TET Program is to provide a model training program for those who are involved as extrication instructors and for supervisors who conduct in-service training for the rescue teams.
Prerequisite: Advanced Vehicle Extrication Levels I & II.

School Bus Extrication Training:
This hands-on program is designed to reduce confusion at the scene of a mass casualty bus crash. Collisions involving an occupied bus can present rescue personnel with extreme physical and psychological challenges associated with any mass transit extrication incident. This incident is compounded by the possibility of a large number of injured occupants.  The need for extrication procedures for this type of emergency situation cannot be overemphasized. SAFE is experienced and accustomed to working with mass transit vehicles and with multi-jurisdiction response agencies.

Safe And Fast Extrication training can be customized to meet your department and community needs. Please take a moment to browse through our website. SAFE is always willing to listen, offer insight, answer questions, and work with you to develop a unique program to fit your extrication training needs. If your agency is interested in hosting any of these programs, please contact John Olshanski, Executive Director.
