December 27, 1999 Dear Mr. Hagen: I am writing to bring your attention to new extrication issues which were not previously addressed in SAFE’s Business Plan. In addition, I wanted to make you aware of SAFE’s continual work in the extrication issues surrounding mass transit services. Mass transit vehicles come in all different shapes and sizes and are manufactured by many different companies. They are used for the transportation of a wide variety of people. School children, senior citizens, people with or without special needs are all using mass transit. Accidents involving motor coaches, school buses and the like happen daily, especially now that school is in session. These accidents result in the need of rescue personnel to address the extrication of multiple accident victims from the vehicles at the same time. To exemplify this point, I have enclosed for your review recent articles involving motor coaches. As we have previously discussed, it is in SAFE’s opinion that extrication training be a State of Wisconsin requirement in the training of rescue personnel. SAFE is ready to incorporate mass transit extrication rescue in its Train the Trainer program for the Wisconsin Technical System to disseminate to rescuers throughout Wisconsin. If you have any questions, or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to working with you in the future. Very truly yours, SAFE AND FAST EXTRICATION, INC.
